Andrew Porteous was born in 1977 and grew up on the outskirts of Wanganui, New Zealand.
In 2007 his play, The War on Obesity, was performed as part of Couch Soup at the New Zealand Fringe Festival in Wellington, New Zealand.
In 2008, he was awarded the Kingi McKinnon Scholarship for Emerging New Zealand Writers.
His first crime novel, A Political Affair, won the Kinglake Publishing (UK) Unpublished Crime Novel Competition 2010 and most recently his play, The Cycle, was awarded the USP Press Literature Prize for Drama.
He currently lives in Dunedin, New Zealand.
